The Fool Tarot Card Meaning
- new beginnings
- innocence
- spontaneity
- free spirit
The Fool upright
The Fool is the first breath of a new adventure. You stand at the edge of the familiar with a light bag and a lighter heart. Trust the pull of what is calling you — beginnings do not require certainty, only the courage to step.
The Fool reversed
Reversed, The Fool counsels pause. The leap may be made in haste, or with old baggage still in hand. Look before you step — what feels like freedom can be avoidance in disguise.
How to read The Fool
The Fool is card 0 of the 22 Major Arcana. When a Major Arcana card appears, readers give it extra weight: it points to one of the bigger lessons or turning points of the moment.
Upright, let its keywords guide the reading: new beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, and free spirit.
Reversed, the same themes are usually blocked, delayed or turned inward. Read the reversed meaning above with that in mind.
