Major Arcana · III
The Empress Tarot Card Meaning
- abundance
- fertility
- nurturing
- nature
The Empress upright
The Empress is the blooming of life itself — creativity, sensuality, nurture. Something tender is growing in you or around you. Tend it with patience and the garden will return the kindness tenfold.
The Empress reversed
Reversed, The Empress can mean creative block, over-giving, or neglect of the body that houses your soul. Return to gentleness with yourself; fertile ground must be tended before it blooms.
How to read The Empress
The Empress is card III of the 22 Major Arcana. When a Major Arcana card appears, readers give it extra weight: it points to one of the bigger lessons or turning points of the moment.
Upright, let its keywords guide the reading: abundance, fertility, nurturing, and nature.
Reversed, the same themes are usually blocked, delayed or turned inward. Read the reversed meaning above with that in mind.
