Minor Arcana · Cups
Ace of Cups Tarot Card Meaning
- love
- new feelings
- compassion
- emotional awakening
Ace of Cups upright
The Ace of Cups is a chalice overflowing — the beginning of love, of feeling, of a heart opening. Let yourself receive it. The blessing runs down the sides; the cup cannot be too full.
Ace of Cups reversed
Reversed, the Ace of Cups speaks of feeling repressed or love withheld — from another, or from yourself. Let the cup overflow. Emotions unexpressed do not disappear; they only relocate.
How to read Ace of Cups
Ace of Cups belongs to the suit of Cups. The suit of water: love, emotions, friendship and intuition.
Aces open the suit: a beginning, a gift or a chance, in the suit's purest form.
Upright, let its keywords guide the reading: love, new feelings, compassion, and emotional awakening.
Reversed, the same themes are usually blocked, delayed or turned inward. Read the reversed meaning above with that in mind.
