Minor Arcana · Cups
Five of Cups Tarot Card Meaning
- loss
- regret
- grief
- disappointment
Five of Cups upright
The Five of Cups is grief in the foreground, blessing in the background. The spilled cups are real, and so are the two still standing. When you can, turn around; something whole remains.
Five of Cups reversed
Reversed, the Five of Cups is the card of grief loosening its grip. Two cups still stand. The sorrow was real — and so is what remains.
How to read Five of Cups
Five of Cups belongs to the suit of Cups. The suit of water: love, emotions, friendship and intuition.
Fives bring conflict, loss or a change that shakes things up.
Upright, let its keywords guide the reading: loss, regret, grief, and disappointment.
Reversed, the same themes are usually blocked, delayed or turned inward. Read the reversed meaning above with that in mind.
