Minor Arcana · Cups
Eight of Cups Tarot Card Meaning
- departure
- withdrawal
- seeking deeper meaning
- moving on
Eight of Cups upright
The Eight of Cups is the courageous walk away. You have outgrown what once fed you, and the horizon calls. Leaving well is its own kind of devotion.
Eight of Cups reversed
Reversed, the Eight of Cups reveals a departure half-made, or a return to what you had already outgrown. If the door has closed in you, let it close behind you too.
How to read Eight of Cups
Eight of Cups belongs to the suit of Cups. The suit of water: love, emotions, friendship and intuition.
Eights bring movement: effort, skill and change picking up speed.
Upright, let its keywords guide the reading: departure, withdrawal, seeking deeper meaning, and moving on.
Reversed, the same themes are usually blocked, delayed or turned inward. Read the reversed meaning above with that in mind.
