Digital vs. Printed Decks: What's the difference?

What digital-only means, how to upgrade to a printed deck yourself (the deluxe edition credits your digital purchase in full; the standard edition takes a fixed owner's discount off its own price), and how printed differs from the Collector's Edition and the Collector's Club.

Digital vs. Printed

  • Digital Deck: high-resolution (300 DPI) images of your personalized cards, delivered on your order page for digital use or printing on your own. "Digital only" means nothing is shipped — there's no physical product, and no shipping address is needed.

  • Printed Deck: a physical, professionally printed deck shipped to your address — plus all the digital downloads. Before printing starts, you review every card and approve the deck yourself, so what arrives is exactly what you signed off on.

Two printed editions

The printed deck comes in two editions — the same complete deck, finished differently. Both are available for our tarot decks and for the Oracle deck:

  • Deluxe edition: premium 350gsm card stock, delivered in a black velvet keepsake pouch. Produced in up to 14 business days.

  • Standard edition: the same complete deck on smooth card stock, shrink-wrapped, at a lower price than the deluxe (roughly a third less). Produced in up to 21 business days.

Both are printed one at a time from your own cards, and both include free worldwide delivery. If you ordered the standard edition, you can still add the deluxe touches — the velvet pouch, the deluxe card stock, or both — from your order page any time before you approve your deck for print.

How long does a printed deck take?

Digital cards are yours as soon as they're generated. A printed deck is made to order: it doesn't exist until you approve it for print, and only then do we start a print run of exactly one — your photos, your cards, printed, checked and packed for you alone.

Plan on up to 14 business days of production for the deluxe edition, up to 21 business days for the standard edition, and up to 21 business days for the Collector's Edition — all counted from your approval, plus delivery time. Those are honest estimates rather than guarantees: a one-of-a-kind deck can't be picked off a shelf, a card that doesn't come out right is remade instead of shipped, and the final days belong to the courier. Upgrading from digital to printed — self-serve

Ordered a digital deck and want to hold it in your hands? You can upgrade yourself, no support ticket needed. Your order page shows both editions side by side — in the "Get it printed & shipped" banner under your deck, in the "Hold it in your hands" step right after you pick your card back, and in your download panel once your files are ready. How the price works:

  • Deluxe edition upgrade: your digital purchase is credited — you only pay the difference between what you already paid and the deluxe printed price.

  • Standard edition upgrade: priced as its own product rather than as a step up from digital, so instead of the full digital credit it carries a fixed discount for people who already own the digital deck — US$15, or the equivalent in your currency, off the standard edition price.

  • You can also ask the Order Assistant (the (?) button in the bottom-right corner) — it shows your exact prices and takes you to checkout, where you add your shipping address.

Everything you've already created stays yours — your cards, edits, and downloads carry over to the printed order.

Printed Deck vs. Collector's Edition vs. Collector's Club

Three different things, easy to mix up:

  • Printed Deck — the standard one-time physical edition of your deck, professionally printed and shipped, in either the standard or the deluxe edition above.

  • Collector's Edition — a one-time heirloom edition of your deck: gold-foil gilded card edges, a rigid keepsake box with a magnetic closure, a certificate of authenticity and your personalized companion guidebook, plus unlimited edits on the order. Hand-finished, so it's produced in up to 21 business days. Also available as a pay-the-difference upgrade from your order page — at the top of the page on printed orders, in the "Make it a Collector's Edition" step after you pick your card back, and one last time when you approve your deck for print — or via the Order Assistant. It can also be given as a gift from the gift page.

  • Collector's Club — a recurring membership: every billing cycle we create and ship a fresh deck of your subject in a brand-new art style, and members enjoy unlimited self-serve edits while active.

Not sure which is right for you? Ask the Order Assistant on your order page — it can show the exact prices for your order and currency.
